On 18 November (18.00 – 20.00) the Global Governance Institute (GGI), in cooperation with Vesalius College Brussels, the Ukrainian Think Tanks Liaison Office in Brussels, the Institute for European Studies, and the Belgian Royal Military Academy will organise the next European Peace & Security Studies Lecture (EPSS) Lecture.
Programme:
The EPSS Lecture will begin at 18.00 and will be followed by a Q&A session and a light reception.
Speakers:
Dr. Olga Burlyuk Assistant Professor at the Centre for EU Studies, Ghent University (Belgium). She holds a PhD in International Relations from the University of Kent (UK), a Master in European Studies from the University of Maastricht (Netherlands) and a Master in Law from the National University “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” (Ukraine). Olga’s doctoral research project examined EU rule of law promotion in Ukraine, including respective legal, political and institutional changes in the country. Olga has published several original articles on the subject in top international academic journals, has written policy papers and analytical commentaries and has spoken to audiences of EU and Ukrainian policy-makers and policy analysts.
Prof. Dr. Yevhen Bystrytsky Executive Director of International Renaissance Foundation (IRF), Ukraine (Open Society Foundations network) since 1998. He also runs Philosophy of Culture, Ethics and Esthetics Department, Institute of Philosophy, National Academy of Sciences, Ukraine since 1989. 1981-1998 he was an associate professor of philosophy and political sciences in leading universities of Ukraine. He taught social and political philosophy, political sciences. Now prof. Bystrytsky gives lectures in High School of Philosophy of the Institute of Philosophy, NAN Ukraine. 1993-1998 Mr. Bystrytsky was a president of NGO ‘Ukrainian Philosophy Forum’ and a member of editorial board of “Political Thought” magazine. Yevhen is author and co-author of several books and many articles in philosophy and political sciences including ‘The Political Analysis of Postcommunism’ Texas A&M University Press, 1997. He has written for Ukraine’s leading newspapers on issues of civil society formation in Ukraine.
Jerzy Pomianowski After two years as Deputy Foreign Minister of Poland, he is now leading the newly founded European Endowment for Democracy, as its Executive Director since January 2013. Prior to leading the Polish Foreign Service’s democratization agenda, Pomianowski worked for the joint international initiative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD): Partnership for Democratic Governance. As its Director (2008-2011), he supported countries destabilised by armed conflict or natural disasters. This followed his work as Director General of the Polish Foreign Service (2005-06) and his launch of Poland’s Development Cooperation and Aid (2006-08). Pomianowski began his career as a civil servant in 1990, just after the fall of communism, first in the Ministry of Education, and then in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. After being in charge of Poland’s relations with Asia, Middle East and Africa, he was Ambassador to Japan from 1997-2002. From 1980-89, Pomianowski was an active member of the democratic opposition in Poland. He was a board member of the Independent Students’ Association and co-founder of the students’ independent publishing house during his Sociology studies at University of Warsaw. Founder of the Warsaw Centre for Japanese Sports, Pomianowski devotes his free time to manage the Polish Aikido Federation as its present president.

Добро пожаловать в Россию. Сейчас я буду говорить о тех местах России где я снимал, где я сейчас снимаю и где планирую снимать.
Увлёкся фотографией начиная с 2001 года, активно начал снимать с 2003 года. По собственным словам, переход к фотографии произошёл неожиданно : будучи страстным охотником, однажды понял, что не может выстрелить зверя, а вместо этого занялся фотосъёмкой диких животных. Неоднократно избирался членом жюри конкурса фотографий дикой природы. Проводит выставки своих работ и семинары по фотографии как в городах России, так и во многих городах Европы. В 2014 году фотографии Горшкова были выбраны для рекламы Олимпийских игр в Сочи. Учредитель российского Союза фотографов дикой природы.
