Een land met een minder bekende, maar boeiende geschiedenis en een rijke cultuur.

Een land vol tradities. Eén van die tradities in de orthodoxe kerk is dat alleen de menselijke stem de erediensten opluistert in kerken en kloosters, er worden dus nooit instrumenten gebruikt.

Tsaren en Tsarina's schreven geschiedenis, zoals de 'Romanov' dynastie die bijna 300 jaar duurde en pas met de oktoberrevolutie in 1917 eindigde. Lenin, Stalin, Gorbatsjov, Jeltsin en Poetin...allemaal klinkende namen die de historie van het land mee hebben bepaald. Het land veranderde drastisch toen in 1989 de muur viel en het communisme klappen kreeg.

Wie het land bezoekt zal al vlug ondervinden dat de vrijheid nog steeds beperkt is, maar de toerist zal daar weinig of niets van ondervinden. Voor wie houdt van geschiedenis en cultuur... is het een absolute aanrader om dit land te bezoeken.
