January 2019 I was glad to receive an invitation to participate in the Gala organized by the committee of the Queen Elisabeth Competition. Exactly 20 years ago I became a prize winner of this great and one of the most important musical competitions in the world. It was an honor to play my own composition in the presence of the Queen Mathilde of Belgium Belgische Monarchie Belge. And as my friend giggled later, I was the only living composer to be heard this evening.

В 1999 я стал лауреатом конкурса Королевы Елизаветы, самом крупном музыкальном состязании в мире. Мне было очень приятно, что в январе этого года меня позвали участвовать в гала-концерте, организованном конкурсом. В зале присутствовала королева Матильда. Вдвойне приятно, что участниками концерта были признанные мэтры европейской сцены, но, как потом пошутил мой друг, я был единственным живым композитором, чье произведение прозвучало со сцены в тот вечер.
