Fidèle à l'esprit humaniste et au parcours multiculturel de Yehudi Menuhin, le programme de ce concert-hommage propose un voyage à travers les musiques classique, indienne, jazz et tzigane en companie d'amis et anciens élèves de Menuhin. Seront au rendez-vous les grands violonistes Dr. Subramaniam (Inde) et Ambi Subramaniam, Valery Sokolov (Ukraine), Vadim Repin (Russie/belgique), Gilles Apap (France), Iva Bittova (République Tchèque), Kerson Leong (lauréat 2010 du Concours Menuhin à Oslo), et son élève préféré Volker Biesenbender (Allemagne), ainsi le percussionniste Burhan Oçal et le virtuose hongrois du violon tzigane Roby Lakatos.
L'Orchestre de l'Ecole Menuhin participe égélement au programme.

On 20 October 2016 in the Henri-Le-Boeuf Hall at the Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels, an outstanding concert will celebrate Yehudi Menuhin’s hundredth anniversary. In the image of the “universal” personality of this great Maestro, the concert will bring together musicians from all generations and the most diverse musical influences.
The event will pay homage to this world-renowned violinist, exceptional musician and philanthropist who spent his life promoting peace and intercultural dialogue. Warner Classics record label, for its part, will release a giant boxed set to highlight 70 years of a truly remarkable career.
True to Yehudi Menuhin’s humanitarian spirit and multicultural career, the concert programme offers a musical journey through jazz, classical, Indian and Gypsy music, in the company of Menuhin’s friends and past pupils. The great violinists Dr. Subramaniam and Ambi Subramaniam (India), Valeriy Sokolov (Ukraine), Vadim Repin (Russia/Belgium), Gilles Apap (France), Iva Bittova (Czech Republic) and Kerson Leong (2010 winner of the Junior First Prize at the Menuhin Competition in Oslo) will be taking part, as well as Menuhin’s favourite student, Volker Biesenbender (Germany). Also performing will be the Turkish percussionist Burhan Oçal, and the Hungarian virtuoso of the gypsy violin, Roby Lakatos. The Yehudi Menuhin School Orchestra and the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel will likewise be part of the programme.
