When the First World War broke out, Russia found itself alone in the East against the Germans and Austro-Hungarians, who intended to take quick action to get rid of the Russians as quickly as possible: indeed, for the central empires, the This conflict is taking place on two fronts and they are looking to finish as soon as possible on one side to better focus on the other. Russia, which certainly has more men, is militarily less equipped and poorly trained.
