The conference will focus on Ukraine's specific role, being at the crossroads between liberal and democratic values and authoritarian political trends. A debate on this issue seems even more important prior to the next Eastern partnership Summit in Vilnius of autumn 2013, at which the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement is expected to be signed. The seminar will be organised around two panels: a first panel on "Dissenting and liberal voices in Ukraine" and a second panel on "Ukrainian politics at a crossroads".
